Applause Event Services will be the  Project Managers for this year’s Capitol Christmas Tree 2006.  A 70" Silver Fir, 65 companion trees and 3,000 ornaments made by Washington school children will be sent to our Nation's Capitol.  Working in conjunction with Northwest Interpretive Association and the US Forest Services, Applause Event Services will bring the tree on a tour, holding several events across the State .  The tree will then be toured across the country with several more events taking place as it makes its way to Washington DC.   This is a great honor .  We look forward to working with Northwest Businesses as we raise funds and rely on other in-kind donations that will make this project uniquely Washington and a success.  For further information on how you can support this project and get involved you can contact Anna Brown at Applause Event Services (360) 349-5415 or at www.applauseevents.net

History of the Tree

John McCormack (D-Massachusetts), Speaker of the House until 1971, began the tradition of the Capitol Holiday Tree in 1964.

Since 1970, the tree has come from a National Forest. This year's tree is from the Olympic National Forest in Washington State
